DESCRIPTION

Scope of Work:

The In-Home Monitor is responsible for conducting home visits to military families to evaluate staff who are providing in-home respite care. The Respite Military Program helps military families who have children with comprehensive disabilities that live in the Maryland, DC, & Virginia area. The program places qualified and trained staff members in a family's home to provide quality respite care.

 

Candidate will need to have experience with children/young adults. Also, the candidate must have an understanding of special needs/disabilities and be comfortable in a variety of home settings. This position will require you to travel across the Maryland, DC, & Virginia area to the families' home.

 

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Monitor respite care by conducting home visits to observe staff members providing respite care to military families (respite hours are typically weekday evenings and weekends).

  • Complete monitoring visit observations reports (IPAD) after conducting home visits and send reports to Senior Respite Director.

  • Communicates clearly and concisely (via e-mails, texts messages, & phone calls) with families and staff while scheduling monitoring visits in the home.

  • Will inform/update Senior Respite Director with scheduled monitoring visits weekly.

  • Follow up with current families quarterly to ensure their satisfaction with the respite program and staff members providing in-home respite care (will write up a summary that includes; questions, concerns, & comments and will inform the Senior Respite Director of responses and updates).

  • Follow up with new families after respite has occurred three times to ensure their satisfaction with the respite program and satisfaction with staff members providing in-home respite care (will write up a summary that includes; questions, concerns, & comments and will inform the Senior Respite Director of responses and updates).

  • Maintain and ensure monitoring visits are updated, current, and accurately entered in the necessary tracking devices & documents (knowledge in Excel).

  • Inform Senior Respite Director of conflicts with families & staff.

  • Assist in once a month Saturday respite events (held at Easter Seals Intergenerational Center-Silver Spring, MD)

  • Assist with volunteer recruitment for once a month Saturday respite events

  • Assist with coordinating the once a month Saturday respite events (includes logistics, activities, contacting families & volunteers, etc.)

  • Assists with other basic administrative duties to meet contract requirements when needed.

  • Able to schedule/balance monitoring visits amongst many staff members

  • Able to multitask and complete projects accurately
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills

  • Able to work independently and on a team

  • Computer skills

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required (completed or in process of completion)

  • 1 year experience in administrative work
  • Awareness and understanding of special needs and/or disabilities

  • Awareness of military cultural and background

  • Must own car (mileage reimbursed)

  • Primary work hours are weekday nights and weekends (work schedule is based on when staff are providing respite care)

  • Willing to travel in the Maryland, DC, & Northern Virginia area (mileage reimbursed)

  • Must pass a FBI & State background check, Drug Test, Sex Offender Check, and Child Protective Services Check

  • Must be comfortable interacting with children with special needs and/or disabilities

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Possess proficiency with basic administrative skills
  • Experience with computers and various programs (Microsoft Outlook, Word Documents, IPADS, Microsoft, etc.)
